The founder and Chairman of the SAEL Group. Mr. Awla, a first-generation entrepreneur, is driven by his core vision of achieving growth with sustainability. He initiated SAEL’s journey from Warehousing to agro-processing, solvent extraction plants, and further onto building renewable power facilities which include solar and waste to energy projects.
He created world-class manufacturing facilities involving diverse technologies which include some of Asia’s highest capacities, over the last 40 years with a strong focus on India’s rural economy. He has established businesses in sectors that are key domains of national interest. For the past many years he has been the Chairman of FICCI-Bioenergy Group.
Sukhbir Singh Awla

Co-founder of the SAEL group and has over 30 years of running various businesses. He is responsible for driving the vision, business development, and new project initiatives of the Group. Under his guidance, the group has efficiently implemented many landmark projects across India. Among his many roles includes planning and policy-making processes for the development and expansion of the business verticals.
Mr. Awla has also been actively involved with various industry bodies to help in policy-making and technology development. His proactive and personalized approach toward the business and his competitive spirit have contributed greatly to the growth of the Group and its diverse businesses.
Laxit Awla
CEO (Renewable Business)
Co-founder and CEO of the renewable business of the group. He is one of the leading young entrepreneurs in India in terms of achieving operating profits in a new venture. During his stint in the group, he has steered the creation of quality renewable assets across solar and waste-to-energy space with a strong focus on stable profitability.
His vision is to expand the renewable portfolio to c. 6000 Mw in the next 5 years. He is technologically savvy with a global outlook and believes in setting the highest benchmarks in all areas of business. He has been instrumental in growing the business from conceptualization to operationalizing resulting in its rapid expansion. His passion to take this journey of business excellence to a new horizon continues with a strong belief in making ESG an integral part of the business.
